Inktober 2018

October Inktober Prep!

I've participated in monthly challenges before, namely NaNoWriMo with success. I've always struggled to draw with any regularity, so I'm going to brave up and attempt Inktober! Ink and lineart is something I struggle with because I always feel I should do *more* and yet I also believe I ruin it when I try to color it and *do more* so...I guess the only way to iron out that issue is to practice drawing. Inking is a pretty unforgiving medium! Even when you ink in shades and values with crosshatching or stipling or whatnot, one little bump can ruin everything. And ofc, my hands already shake naturally because of Lyme, so we will see how this goes!

I have my line markers (Sakura brand is my fave!) and 40 sheets of smooth bristol paper to help prevent ink bleeds and help me keep my lines from becoming sad and lumpy from paper grain. (Watercolor paper plus lines are a sad day for me).

What I don't have selected are prompts! There are a list of Official Prompts over at the Organizer's page at http://www.inktober.com, but I'm not totally inspired by them just yet. So I follow an account on instagram that collects prompt lists from artists who made their own. Rules are, as they say, made for breaking in art but only after you know them. :3 Check it out! I'm very tempted to make my own prompts because the list of things that inspire me to draw often vary from other artists, and I'd like to actually *complete* some art. Good prompts are important.

So what about you guys? Will you be participating? I intend to share my daily sketches here, probably by weekly round up because I have exciting events this month! 3 days of shoots and planning a baby shower for my sister. I'm making centerpieces now, so look forward to my crazy October posts!
